How long does an asphalt roof actually last in East TN?
Installed to the manufacturer’s specification, architectural asphalt can last up to 50 years in East Tennessee’s climate. Humidity and shaded north-facing slopes shorten that on the margins. Class 4 impact-rated lines generally outperform standard architectural in TN’s hail corridor.
What’s the difference between "standard" and the extended Atlas warranty?
Atlas's extended manufacturer warranty options require the install to use Atlas-spec components throughout — starter, ridge cap, underlayment, and ventilation. When we install to that spec, the install qualifies for the longer Atlas material warranty. Specific terms vary by shingle line and installation; defer to Atlas's published warranty document on your written estimate.
Is Class 4 worth the upcharge?
In the 11E corridor between Kingsport and Bristol — yes, usually. The insurance discount typically recovers the upcharge inside 6–8 years. After that, you’re ahead, with a stronger roof.
What colors are available?
A wide variety, enough to fit any home. Manufacturer palettes change often, so rather than list specific colors here we'll bring samples to the on-site estimate and you can see them against your house. In the meantime, browse the colors we install most on real Tri-Cities homes.
Do you install 3-tab shingles?
Rarely. 3-tab has a lower wind rating and shorter warranty than architectural shingle, and most manufacturers are phasing out the SKUs. We'll install it on a rental property or detached garage if asked, but for a primary residence we'll usually recommend architectural instead.
